5/18/26 I almost died

Image
Good day all, All in all the week was fun with many exciting events happening along the way. The weather has been heating up even more bit the sea breeze helps a lot.  This week had a lot of fun things, we were joined by one of the AP's who coincidentally was the Elder who trained Elder Reese. The two of them talked nearly exclusively in inside jokes for the day and I was the one driving. In terms of the work that day, it was actually really fun. It's just playing third wheel in the area that I'm serving in was a really funny experience. Then multiple fun things happened on Saturday for 1 1st thing in the day, one of the members took us to this nice place for breakfast, and we had heaping portions. And that I then joined one of the bike elders in their area for the day , although one of them had been hit by a car, he is fine, but his mic was not. So we were walking the entire day because of how absolutely huge breakfast was. We decided to skip lunch because we also had the p...

5/11/26 Mayhem and mother's day

Hello all, Another beautiful week passed by sunny and clear. While also being a reasonable temperature in terms of events, the week didn't have too many. We didn't very well during the week, but seems that some illness and caught up to elder wreaths, and he fell sick and was bedridden for an entire day, enter boredom my worst enemy. That one day felt longer than some entire weeks of my mission. Because there's a limit to how many things you can do with just texting and calling people over the phone and there's only a limited number of phone numbers you can call.  The other big event of this week is we had to at first politely, and then second, not so politely ask somebody to stop coming because of being a large disruption at church, it doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's always chaotic.  For zone P-day we all met up and played a bunch of board games, and had a pickleball tournament and overall had a lot of fun. Happy mothers day time all who have and wi...

5/4/26 May the 4th be with you

Hello all This last week had not too many crazy things happened, but it was fun. Either way. The main things that happened this week was first some food poisoning because of some misplaced raw chicken in the fridge. Yeah, that was not fun.  The next day, we had zone conference over in Napa. Overall, it was good. The emphasis was on the standards and safeguards, and making sure to follow the rules. It was a much needed correction for many people in the mission have been backsliding. Me included. But the rest of the week turned out fairly normal. I spent a day on bikes which was really fun and also really tiring and all in all had a lot of good things happen. The cherry on top this week was us being suprise called into a service project helping a sister in the ward move. As we were moving boxes around I spotted a loose magic card and asked if she played. We both needed out about it for a bit and at the end of us helping her she up and gave me a deck that she wasn't taking with her...

4/27/26 Another!

Hello all, I hope you are not too bored of hearing from me. From last time to now nothing standout happened. We had a lot of really blessed missionary work but going into detail would be a lot of work and explaining. Sunday we decided to do an experiment where we didn't pull our hair out and call everyone reminding them to come to church. And to our surprise the number of people that made it to church was the same as other weeks. We are not supposed to force the choice. Although Saturday is prime time to make sure people follow through with their commitments from earlier in the week. Take care everyone. Zone Conference is this week so I may have more entertaining news to share next week. Love, Elder Hsu  Pics- 1- Sunset 2- Fashback: 1 year ago cat pic

4/22/26 Temple and Elder Gong

Image
Good day all, This email is coming to you in the middle of the week because P-day and temple trips have become synonymous with each other. Meaning today was my first day to rest after starting this transfer. And man was that first week crazy. First big events was visiting the Temple on Friday with our recent convert Billy he is in a wheelchair so he didn't get in the water for baptisms but he was super ready for the temple and he did the confirmations for his family names. Afterwards we went to the visitors center and as we were getting the mini intro to the temple from the sisters missionaries there the craziest thing happened. In the visitors center there are some conference rooms and the door to one of them opened... and Elder Gong, Elder Wadda (Area Presidency), and the temple president mosey on out and straight out of the building. A delightful cherry on top of the visit to the temple. The next day was the meeting with Elder Gong. Early morning ride up to Santa Rosa and the en...

4/13/26 Transfers snuck up on me

Fortunately I am not leaving so packing will have to wait for next time. E. Swindler is leaving off to San Rafael and a new Elder named Elder Reese is coming to join me tomorrow. He is rather new compared to me but seems to be cool. Until tomorrow who knows. The week was great though. A group of clouds came through and cooled everything off as well as bringing a delightful bit of rain. The week was a roller-coaster of highs and lows in the work. We had many very blessed and prepared people to encounter and start teaching. But on the flip side a lot of appointments were falling through our fingers. It cumulated with a visit to the temple having to be cancelled due to surprise appointments with the person we were going to visit with. Followed up the next day with the baptism of 2 kids who were super happy to be baptized. Their great-grandma is a member and they are the first of hopefully more baptisms to come. As the year marches on I hope everyone can continue staying safe and working h...

4/7/26 Conference and Chaos

Image
Unlike last week this week is a Rollercoaster of events. First, tragedy one of the missionaries in Vallejo had to go home. His companion was moved elsewhere in the mission. Following that the week was a roller-coaster of crazy good things and unfortunate events.  One example is one of our close friends here in Vallejo lost a cat tragically and we were called in to help bury her, but then just a few days later we met a kitty who was just recently abandoned that was super friendly. We totally would have kept him if it weren't for mission rules so we ended up bringing him to a new home with that close friend and it was perfect for them. That was just a little part in a chain of events the led to us reconnecting with people that we had trouble contacting last month. Miracles abounded as we closed in on conference as we got to really filter out those who weren't interested. When church can come to you at home and you still miss it then how committed are you to learning more? Is the ...
