8/4/25 Farewell Lakeport, Back to Clearlake
Good day all,
This transfer has come to an end and so does this surprise trio. I am headed back to Clearlake after it's 3 weeks of inactivity. It's not starting from scratch but... it is sorta starting from scratch. My new companion is Elder Gordon I have heard mixed reviews so we'll see what happens.
This week was busy in everything but missionary work. We Cleaned both the Clearlake apartment and the Lakeport apartment that was just moved out of. There was some food left in the Clearlake fridge that had been sitting there for far longer than I had been here safe to say it is gone now.
The bugs are as relentless as ever surprisingly Elder Latham has been the bug magnet instead of me. But I still caught a bite or two. Anti-itch cream is a blessing to have in my first-aid kit. Some of the people here in Lakeport are treaty close with the missionaries and took us to a fancy Thai place as a farewell gift. It was a tad bit sweet but overall better than most food on mish. Last fun bit is that we visited a "Castle" at the north end of the lake. Didn't go inside but got some pictures outside. There members invited us for chicken butchering and I... chickened out but overall it was a fun bit of service and we got to take home a chicken to cook up later.
There were two baptisms in the district one over here in Lakeport from the sisters and the Spanish Elders baptized and entire family, and the food following the baptism was phenomenal although I wish they labeled the spicy sauce better learn from my mouth burning once and not twice. Speaking of burning there was a big fire that happened in Clearlake this last Sunday I was still in Lakeport but my phone was getting messages to and fro with fire updates and the Ward coordinating efforts to make sure members near the fire were safe. Fortunately nobody we know has been majorly impacted by the fire, no missing people or houses.
Conventional wisdom of the week: the less surface area exposed to the air the less bug bites you get (watch out for things clothes/socks though) this was seen when I put a jacket on in the evening and both bitten 10x less.
Bye,
Elder Hsu
