6/30/25 It's a Wynn Wynn

Image
Hey all! First and foremost we had a baptism! A couple we're teaching the Wynns got baptized. It was a surprisingly complex thing to do the planning, the ordinance, and the setup/takedown. But it was worth the minor headache for them to have made it. They have been taught for a good while and I am happy that I was here for when they made it to the waters of baptism. That was the big highlight of the week. The other bit of big news is a vehicle update. We got upgraded from a Toyota rav4 to an Toyota Tacoma. And a truck is a lot better designed for these bumpy dirt roads.  Miracle of the week (other than the baptism): We had a hike a lunch and a lesson all at the same time. A member and one of the friends we are teaching invited us to join them on a mini hike of a seasonal lake (lake during rainy season/marshish during summer) and we had a QnA type lesson along the way. We just had some simple sandwiches while sitting on a few logs then we're on our way out. Wise words of the wee...

6/23/25 Pianos shouldn't be this heavy!

Image
Hey, all. This week overall was rather plain. The weather has been a blessing, hovering around the 80º mark with a solid breeze. The first fun happening this week was when we ran into a family that we were teaching while on our way out of Walmart who had been out of town recently. The other big thing this week was a service opportunity helping someone move miscellaneous things out of a house and into a nearby barn. For the title the piano itself was one of those ones that I think can "play itself" with the air thingies through the slotted paper and was approximately 500+ lbs. We had moved it onto the porch and then, found that there was no feasible way to get it down the stairs. As the other elders were problem-solving the piano Elder Galvan and I kept moving other things through a side door since the front door was blocked by the piano. After 20-25 minutes they decided that we couldn't move said piano down the stairs safely so we would have to move it back inside. Even w...

6/16/25 Pop goes the tire.

Hey, happy late father's day yall! This week was pretty standard. We were blessed with slightly cooler temperatures with it being high 80s instead of mid 90s. I dread the fabled triple digit weather everybody keeps telling me is on its way soon. As for the title we had parked and were about to walk over to a local farmers market when I noticed a hissing noise... it turned out to be our tire (Pic below) so the plan for the market was set aside and we had to spend some time swapping the punctured tire with the spare. Fortunately because incidents like this happened often for this vehicle (before my time here) "the LDS missionaries" were a regular customer at the local tire shop and the gave the tire repair for free. Woo \(^-^)/ Miracle of the Week was that we had a record if 5 of the people we are teaching make it to church this last Sunday and we didn't even know there was a father's day surprise pie and ice cream linger longer. On a separate note. Recently I liste...

6/9/25 Very poco Español

Afternoon (or whenever you read this) all! This week started on a unique note. As of last weeks email I mentioned the Spanish Elders popping their tire, it's repair took 2 days and during that time they were split between us and the Lakeport elders so that they could continue doing missionary work with us. One of their lessons on Tuesday was a English lesson for a Hispanic dude and it was eye opening how limited and confusing just English is. Elder Galvan was the one that joined us and he had a gift for Spanish as it is his 1st language and I was actually able to help on the English lesson by verifying how weird English was for some circumstances (ex. read instead of readed). Miracle of the week: there is the one guy we have been teaching who needs a ride to church and for the last few weeks trying to coordinate his ride was a minor headache. But this last Sunday we got a solid ride and he loved being there for the meeting. The cherry on top was that he chatted with members and now...

6/2/25 Temple trip #2

Image
Hey everyone. This week had quite a few surprises some good and some a little scary. First off we are super busy teaching tons of people about the church and the significance of it. The week has gotten quite hot this weekend hitting highs in the hundreds. Today the district decided to go on a hike unfortunately 1/2 the district weren't able to make it to the full hike. The sisters weren't available and the Spanish Elders on their way to the hike ran over a rock and popped their tire. Still had good quality time with Elder Latham and Elder Grighun. Although the highlight of the week was the trip to the temple of Friday. After an 1.5 hour road trip we got to the feather river temple and had a great time appreciating the beauty of the grounds. I loved the more floral look of a lot of the stained glass windows. One of the greatest things that we teach is the significance of temples and family history. Many people that I have taught find interest and comfort in the knowledge of what...
