11/24/25 House of the Lord

Image
Good day everyone,  As the skies cleared up this week and the weather continues to become colder the crowning event of the week was a large group visit (me, Elder Payne, the sisters, the senior missionary couple, 2 recent converts, and a brother from the ward) to the Oakland California Temple. First of all the drive was a great rest for my legs and second the temple the best word to describe it would be grand. On a hill overlooking the city it was quite the landmark. And all the artistry and architecture were both really cool. What I'm saying is this temple was great just like the other ones I have been to bit it was also an experience like no other.  Other than that trip the week was fairly normal leading into this holiday week which will probably not be as normal. Today we had Zone P-Day and President and Sister Quinn joined us this morning to play pickleball. I was lucky enough to play a round the both of them versus me and Elder Grighun... the score was 8-11 a loss, w...

11/14/25 When it rains it pours

Good day all, Elder Hsu here from the beautiful Santa Rosa mission in the city of Santa Rosa. This week saw a good ammount of rain roll in for the last few days. And when you are biking to and fro you become a lot more immersed in it than I initially thought. I was grinning and laughing in the cold and rain because it has been forever since I had familiar weather. (Elder Payne might think I'm crazy... maybe I am just a little bit) This last week was fairly uneventful with Friday being a day where we got a car for the day along with an Elder from mission leadership (AP). So we got tons more work done when travel was much less of a trouble. And then on Sunday one of the recent converts that Elder Payne has worked with for a long while got the Preishood and a temple recommend, so that is in the books for this upcoming week to visit the temple with him for his first time. I hope you all have a safe and warm start to the week as the weather moves colder. Adios, Elder Hsu  Pics: 1- ...

11/10/25 I would bike 500 more

Just to be the elder who biked 1,000 miles to be knockin at your door. Good day all, This week had a fun to go around and I am starting to adjust physically to the tough and rigorous all day everyday biking. Milestones were on Wednesday it rained a bit, but it was exchanges so I was in a vehicle instead of getting doused. Then we had zone conference where we got a lot of instruction and the senior missionaries spoiled us with Chicken Condon Bleu as lunch. There were a few lows this week with Elder Payne broke his kickstand (guess he kicked it a little too hard or a little too wrong). Fortunately we were able to get a replacement for it by the end of the week. So far so good for my bike and it's wellbeing. The other note is that we had a baptism Elder Payne was the one doing it and he killed it. I see a bright future ahead for the boy. And better yet we are teaching his family as well and they're also working towards being baptized.  As more and more people play unnecessary Chr...

11/3/25 I would bike 500 miles

Hey all, First update from this dead legged Elder. I thought I was ready for biking that assumption lasted 1 day. Church had the added blessing of not needing to bike around. According to Elder Payne, my new companion says that after 2 weeks I'll build the strength and tolerance needed to survive. In the heart of the mission in the Santa Rosa city proper. And the work is moving fast here too. We have a lot of families we are teaching and new members we will be taking to the temple soon. The song that keeps coming to mind is "Put Your Shoulder to the Wheel" hymn 252. As biking and the work get hard I somehow find the ability to make it to the end of the day. So I must push along, push along. Until next week, Elder Hsu  Pics: 1- farewell Ukiah Stake 2- Elder Payne and I 3- us on the beach/fort 4- driftwood fort
